Background, Title & Filename

Open the programme by clicking on this icon on the desktop or by going to Démarrer > Programmes > Macromedia Dreamweaver 2

This is the screen that opens.

The Properties Window

There are three floating windows . Each can be grabbed in the top blue bar and moved around . For the moment we can shut the Objets floating window and the Lanceur floating window to leave only this one open on the screen:

This is the Properties floating window and it's extremely useful. The Properties window gives you information about whatever you are doing on the screen (typing text, selecting a picture or a table etc) and modifications can be made.

PAGE & TEXT COLOURS

A website should be limited to just two or three colours for its background, text and decoration. This gives the site coherence and identity.

So lets begin by choosing the background, text, and links  colours. In the top, horizontal menu click on Modifier > Propriètes de la page

Now go to > Couleur de l'arrière-plan.

Choose a colour from the palette.

A light background colour with dark text rather than a dark background with light text makes reading easier .

Now choose a text colour from the palette :

This should contrast with the background colour for easy reading. The three link colours (Link, Active and Visited should be the same colour as the text.)

Click OK when you're satisfied with the colours and have a look at the results. Type a few words to see the text colour.
