Write two paragraphs (only !! ) in your own words. The first is a summary of what happened on June 28th 1914 and the second is on How this event lead to a European war.
Look at Page 9 in 'Making History' and other sources of information.Add one or two pictures if you are interested.

Document Commentary
Wilson's Fourteen Points for A Just Peace

The Fourteen Points can be found on page 28 in 'Making History'.The full text can be seen here . The original version (written in Wilson's shorthand) can be seen here.

Find out about this important document and then write four paragraphs on it. Do do not need subtitles.

First paragraph states what type of document it is, when it was written and by whom.
The second paragraph states the historical circumstances in which the document was written.
The third paragraph explains the three or four main themes that the document covers.
The last paragraph is the conclusion : what were the consequences? Did it succeed or fail? What does it teach us today?

Add some pictures if you are interested.

Results of World War I notes and Treaty of Versailles map (Chapter 3 in Making History).

Re-read your Wilson's Fourteen Points homework. You don't have to learn the Fourteen Points (page 28) by heart but understand the principles behind them.

Similarly you don't have to learn the Treaty of Versailles by heart (photocopied map and page 30) but understand the harsh principles behind it (territorial changes , military restrictions, war guilt clause and reparations) and be able to give some examples, if necessary.

Stalin and the Industrialisation of the USSR notes (Chapter 8 pages 69-70 in book).

How to revise:
  • Read through the chapters in the book and notes and make sure you understand the subject.
  • On small 10X14cms note cards write the key vocabulary (ideas, themes, names, dates , places etc) .
  • Learn by heart the vocabulary.
  • Ask someone to test you

Using the graphs on page 86 in Atlas write in the the table two or three sentences on each of the six USA climates .

Complete the double USA : Physical map according to the instructions on the right-hand sheet.

Alaskan Oil : should it be further developed or not?

Work in pairs to produce a newspaper article on the project to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in northern Alaska to oil drilling. The article should have a title, subtitles, 'pull-quotes' (quotations set into the text to attract readers' attention) and pictures. Use standard school file paper.

State your sources of information. Length 2-3 sides max.

Use the worksheet and recent Guardian, BBC, CNN articles on internet to find out more on the topic.
