Influence
of Britain and America on the French Revolution
We've
studied the revolutions in England (1649 & 1688) and
the revolt of the American colonies (1776). This lesson
will be on how these events influenced France.
Read carefully docs 1,2 (Edmunde Burke) & 3 (Thomas
Paine) on your last photocopy. They're a bit difficult
but you should be able to understand them. Look at the
pictures at the back. You'll be expected to discuss these

Homework
for Tues 9th Jan 2007
Britain's
Renovation of its Industrial Areas
Work
in pairs to write or type a short essay on how some of
Britain's old, run-down industrial areas ( docks , factories,
power stations etc) have become attractive business and
tourist destinations with
offices, restaurants, art galleries, museums, pedestrian
walkways etc.
A short introduction should mention the Industrial
Revolution of the 18th & 19th centuries (which we're
studying next in class) and the decline of these traditional
industries in the 1970s & 1980s (look at Geography
notes).
A short conclusion should mention how this renovation
is an example of how a service economy is replacing
an indusrial economy , giving hope to poorer ,
run down areas of the UK (and other countries).
Add
pictures, maps and sources of information. Length : 4
sides max.
Here
are some links to help you but you can take examples from
other cities like Liverpool, Leeds, Newcastle or Glasgow
.
